Zinc plating (electroplating):       

Zinc Electroplating is the most prevalent, least expensive electroplated deposits on ferrous substrates to achieve corrosion protection. Zinc plating involves placing a clean ferrous component in an aqueous zinc solution and utilizing electric current to deposit zinc metal on the substrate. Zinc plating protects the substrate by sacrificing itself and thus corrodes before the substrate. Post treatments with trivalent chrome and other organic or inorganic sealants will provide color and enhanced corrosion protection. The unique combination of corrosion protection, attractive appearance and relatively low cost, make zinc plating an obvious choice for plating a wide variety of metal stampings, fasteners and automotive components. Zinc plating is also a wise choice for an undercoat layer for painting or powder coating in high corrosion applications. The features of zinc plating include; suitable for rack or barrel applications, low cost corrosion protection, even plating thickness distribution, attractive appearance, ability to cover in recessed areas, excellent ductility and accepts a wide variety of post treatments.
