Tawas Plating Company and Tawas Powder Coating, Inc. celebrates its 55th year anniversary in September 2009. The company was founded by Dr. Paul Chevis in 1954 after retirement from GM as a Process Enhancement Consultant. Dr. Chevis intended to do research on a then new plating process called electroless nickel. Soon after engaging in research, at the request of GM, his company became a full-fledged plating operation by electroless nickel plating steering column "knuckles". Since that time the company has evolved into a 65,000 square foot facility that offers its loyal customer base electroless nickel plating, zinc electroplating and powder coating. The Company believes in continuous improvement and ensuring that we offer a service of the highest quality and value! We are located in Tawas City, Michigan, which is bounded by the Huron National Forest on the west, Lake Huron and Tawas Bay on the East, and the famous Au Sable River on the north.
